Dreams

I did it again! This morning I managed to sleep through the radio alarm for about 20 minutes, and woke up shortly after a bizarre dream about toilets! There were two doors to the toilets, and the queue for the gents' was much shorter (as per usual!) then the women's toilets. It turned out that the men could go straight in, whereas the women had to pay #1 each to go, so it was talking longer because we had to unlock the door by putting the money in, turning the lock etc ...

I've just had a chance to listen to the Today programme to confirm that they were talking about toilets ... and they were! Interesting to listen to the flow ... they were talking about toilets, then talked about toilets being more catered to men, then talked about paying for toilets ... So gradually my dream was formed! This was a good 3-5 mins discussion, all on toilets!

I wonder what will be on the news tomorrow morning ...

Radio with pictures

I now know how John Logie Baird came up with the idea! I was resting on the sofa - I've got a terrible cold and had to get up early to have the car MOT-ed and taxed, so it's really taken it out of me! - and I had a very interesting dream. Mum and Dad were there, and we were listening to the radio. The bit I remember most clearly was when there was a man being interviewed on the radio who had caught a whole load of big fish. He was obviously particularly interested in the marlin that he had caught - a long nosed one and a baby one and another type as well - and he couldn't very well go swimming in South Africa, so obviously he caught them instead. As we listened, there were photos - a very blurry close up of the man's face, reclining on a deckchair on the deck of the boat while he fished - which I handed to mum to pass to dad, with a comment that he looked very pleased with himself - and a close up from his photo album showing the fish that he had caught.

I'm not sure what it was that roused me from sleep, but I realised that Evan Davies, who in my dream was about to start a discussion on Agas, was, in real life, really hosting a discussion about agas! So I asked H if there had been a man talking about fishing, and he said he thought so ... I'm about to go and find out, so watch this space for links!

(Mr Gregorak has been named "the Greatest Fisherman in the World" - the link on the radio is 26 mins in, if it's still there!)

Alarm Clock

I put the clocks forward around 8pm last night (so no excuse for the late night we had!), so I wasn't late for church because I'd forgotten about it. No. I was late because my alarm went off at 8am, as planned, then switched off instead of snoozing. So I carried on snoozing ... well, no, it was a deep sleep and I was dreaming of singing with a large choir and having to do a solo which I kept on getting wrong, but kept on smiling anyway ... and eventually woke up of my own free will (not sure why - I was still exhausted!) at 8:53am, then had to shower, wash my hair, get dressed and breakfasted and out within 20 mins or so. Was only 5 minutes late - not bad in the circumstances, I thought. Anyway, H said I should mark the occasion of the alarm clock beginning the descent into not-workingness.

Fat, juicy red tomatoes

Another vivid dream last night ... I dreamt that I sent all the teachers in the union at my school tomato seeds, and we grew tomatoes. They were all huge ... my tomato grew very quickly, within a couple of days it had filled the pot where I had planted the seed. A huge, red, ripe, juicy tomato, with a long green stalk that must have been a couple of feet high. Woke up thinking it would be good to get one of those tomato growing bags!

Sweet Dreams

I presume it's because I'm sleeping quite well but then I am still woken up by my alarm ...

The night before last I dreamt that I was swimming through the sky, miles above the ocean, swiimming back to the UK, looking down on the tiny boats and every so often people swimming in the sea, who had presumably jumped off the boats for a swim, they were so far from land. It was a nice feeling, although I was a bit worried about growing tired before I got home, and worried that if that happened I might fall. However, I was enjoying it. Trying to keep out of the way of seagulls and a Stageoach bus that was also travelling in the sky at one point.

Then last night I dreamt of two things ... firstly, I was looking for a plain black handbag, not too expensive. I wasn't having much luck, but then I found a black patent one with a clasp and a long beaded "handle" - not quite what I was looking for, but inside was a wallet, which contained a safety pin, and other useful bits and pieces. The bag cost £6, and, although not exactly what I was looking for, I decided that it was worth it for the wallet alone.

Then, having bought the bag, someone came up to me and asked me to interview some swans. (Aha, Wild Swans - the book I'm reading right now ... perhaps that was the inspiration!) I didn't want to, because I thought it was a bit strange, but also because I was scared of them, because they were as big as dogs and I thoguht they'd jump up at me, but eventually, I had to give in and ended up interviewing a couple of swans. Didn't find out too much, though, because then I woke up.

At least it makes a change from dreaming about school! Bizarre!
